Hello guys! I wish to share few pieces of my research results for the couple of days now. Title is "4 CRAZIEST WATER AND FIRE ATTACKS EVER. NOS 1 AND 3 WILL SHOCK YOU". In this post, I have compiled a list of 5 events and incidents that will definitely wow you and light up your mood and add to your knowledge.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Here is an overview of what we're gonna cover in this interesting blog update:
- The only sea that vanished from earth.
- Rain of fire and brimstone
- Town ablaze (on fire) for decades
- Flood that wiped out the entire earth
1) The first on our list is THE ONLY SEA THAT VANISHED FROM EARTH. (Aral sea)
Aral sea 1989 (left) to 2014 (right) |
We have heard and maybe some of us have seen different seas like the famous Red sea, the no oxygen black sea and many more that we might know but this one sea is not known to you. Aral sea is the only sea that disappeared from earth and was considered a catastrophe by the UNESCO. Crazy right? This is regarded as one of the most devastating disaster on earth.
- DESCRIPTION AND LOCATION.
The sea got its name from its feature of many sub islands located on the sea. It encompasses over 1,000 islands and so was named Aral sea meaning SEA OF ISLANDS.
Aral sea was lying within the Asia continent, located specifically between Kazakhstan at the north and Uzbekistan to the south. These regions may not sound familiar to you but you'll get it soon enough. These were places close to Afghanistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan; these regions were also considered as the Aral sea's drainage basin.
Before it's disappearance, it became the fourth largest lake in the world with an area of 68,000 square kilometres.

North: 27 cube km (6 cu mi) (2007)
Area covered:
68,000 sq km or 26,300 sq mi (earlier 1960)
6,800 sq km or 2,620 sq mi (later 2005 to 2008)
Borders:
North - Kazakhstan
South - Uzbekistan
The sea started shrinking when the water source channel was diverted to the Soviet irrigation project in the 1960s. The water reduced gradually till late 1990s that it was already reduced to 10% of its initial size and volume and then split into 4 lakes namely: North aral lake, southeastern lake, southwestern lake and intermediate lake.
In 2014, for the first time in modern history, it was confirmed that the southwestern lake is completely dried up to the extent that the area is now the present day Aralkum desert.
Some parts of the Aral sea has been fluctuating over the years but the Aral sea as a water body no longer exists. This also led to unemployment for fishermen and more societal problems that was determined by the water.
2) RAIN OF FIRE AND BRIMSTONE
One of the most fearful punishment on earth was the raining of hailstones upon Sodom and Gomorrah. This was recorded in the Bible as well as the Qur'an.
This happened around thousands years BC without certainty. God destroyed this land because of their atrocities that were beyond tolerance. The main reason for their the destruction is still a dragged matter till today as Judaism said it was because of their inhospitable behaviour backing up their suggestion with the fact that they demanded that the angels sent to lot be brought out to them; however, most parts of Christianity proved that it was because of their abominable sexual deeds that led them to homosexuality claiming that the act of homosexuality was originated from there.
- HISTORICAL LOCATION & DESCRIPTION
Sodom and Gomorrah were presumably situated adjacent the south water of the once Al-lisan peninsula of the central part of the Dead sea, Israel. But now it separates the northern basin from the southern basin of the Dead sea. These kingdoms were allies of Admah Zeboim and Bela.
Subsequent archaeological evidences confirmed that the land was a very fertile land in conjunction with the Bible and that was why lot chose the side for his dwelling when Abraham gave him the chance to choose. Between 2000 BC to 1500BC (also known as the mid bronze age) the Land must have been a productive one for that long because considerable volume of water more than enough flows into the Dead sea. But the cities must have fully disappeared during a severe earthquake of the Dead sea area of the East African Rift System in 1900BC.
This system subtend south from the Jordan river valley Israel to the eastern African Zambezi river area.
The land was also endowed with petroleum elements and this also contributed to the catastrophic occurrence of the fire and brimstone.
- BRIEF RELIGIOUS ACCOUNT.
This was mentioned in the book of Genesis the first book of the old testament.
From the internet. |
When Abraham and Lot started having misunderstandings with each other, Abraham was wise to let both of them separate to avoid conflict. He then told Lot to choose whichever side he will like to settle. Lot then chose the fertile land of the Valley of Siddim and Abraham went the opposite way.
Abraham was believed to be the friend of God and a prophet, so when God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah he told Abraham which made him plead with God to spare the righteous ones in the lands. God afterwards sent his angels to warn the righteous of the lands but only Lot and his house was found righteous. When the day came, Lot and his family was instructed to flee and never turn back but Lot's wife looked back and she turned into a salt pillar. Only Lot and his two daughters escaped the destruction alive.
Ruins discovered in the present day. |
This remained one of the most CRAZIEST occurrence on earth till today.
3) TOWN ABLAZE (on fire) FOR DECADES:
Ever heard of a mine that has been burning for over 50 years? I present to you Centralia Pennsylvania!
Centralia Pennsylvania USA is a small town that was known for prosperity of its people through coal from local mines. There used to be many shops, houses and buildings with a population of 1200 people. The people lived together as close neighbours and their town's economy was magnificent not until....
- BRIEF HISTORY
For more than a century, Centralia has been a major coal mine in America. Mining was their everything, mining meant life to the people of Centralia. During the 1860s, some Irish immigrants known as Molly Maguires (a secret society of Ireland origin) moved to Centralia and made their way to the coal Mines.
In late 1860s, the Molly Maguires were accused of committing some acts of violence within Centralia as reported by a Centralia historian Johnson. He said and I quote:
“Some believe that the Mollies were guilty, while others claim that the Mollies were framed by owners of the mines who feared that the members of the Mollies and [other organisations] would organise the mine workers into unions"
Some of these suspicions included murder of Alexander Rae the founder of the town and the first priest of the town as well. In 1877, they succeeded in subduing the suspects and the crime wave ended and by 1890 their population has increased to 2700 people.
- HOW DID THE FIRE START IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Centralia was an area bombarded with garbage, and trash causing offensive smell and rodents in the town. How the fire started is not certain but it seemed to have started from the Centralia land fill which was converted to a dump in 1962 in the bid to stop the further contamination of the environment. By May this same year (1962) a festival was knocking and the city council proposed cleaning the landfills ahead of the festival called Centralia memorial day.
The council then chose the method of burning the landfills. See what Dekok David said:
“Centralia Council’s method for cleaning up a dump was to set it on fire. ”
Many theories have been revolving around how the fire was sparked but the most accurate was that the landfills which was set on fire propagated a much more severe fire beneath. The fire started spreading to mine tunnels underground and fire was burning in a coal mine under the grounds of Centralia.
The effect was turning out to be unbearable for people due to the abundance of carbon monoxide (CO a toxic gas) and the mines were shut. Someone said they should have put out the fire but there were multiple trials to put out the fire and none was successful. Why this is difficult is because not just one or two mines are fueling the fire but many mines and which one exactly could possibly be reinforcing the fire or is it two or even all the mines. Putting all fire out could be impossible or expensive beyond bearable.
Soon, the temperature of the town started increasing up to 900°F, samples and gases covered the whole town and the health of the town people were threatened. Cemeteries were said to have dropped deep into the earth because of the great heat cased by this fire, even a pre-teenage boy fell into one of the sinkholes created by the fire. So the government had no choice than to evacuate and pay off the inhabitants of Centralia.
- DID THE FIRE EVENTUALLY EXTINGUISH?
The answer is no!
For more than 50 years now, the fire has been burning and has turned the town into an infamous devastated land. In fact, Steve Jones a geologist said that the fire can no more be extinguished, it was confirmed that the fire can still burn for a century if left uncontrolled.
It's crazy! and that is Centralia, Pennsylvania, US for you, the town that has been ablaze for decades and will still burn for a century if not more.
4) FLOOD THAT WIPED OUT THE ENTIRE WORLD
Some of us or maybe even most of us have been told the story of Noah and the great flood.
This flood is beyond a disaster which some scientists find it hard to believe despite the religious account of the incidence.
- BIBLICAL RECORDS
The flood was believed to be from the Almighty God according doing to biblical records because God was sorry to have created man. So he selected a righteous man at that time Noah in the book of Genesis chapter 6 to notify the people and build an ark for safety.
The time of construction was not days weeks or months but it took a great deal of years to finally complete the wooden ark according to the blueprint God gave him. He selected animals that others may be destroyed with the flood, but for continuity Noah chose all animals some in 7 pairs and some in 2 pairs and kept them in the ark with enough food.
He, his wife his three sons Shem, Ham, and Japhet and their wives who believed him were the ones who were in the ark with him when it began to rain and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The flood covered all the face of the earth and took all living creatures except Noah and his family in the safe house (the ark).
- NEW DISCOVERIES THAT CONFIRM THAT THE FLOOD WAS REAL.
Recently, an archaeological research team led by a renowned underwater achaelogist Ballard Robert discovered some remnants of ancient time deep down beneath the Black sea off the coast of Turkey. He claimed the incident actually happened because the materials discovered such as potteries were dated back to over 5000 BC and scholars said the great flood happened during this time.
He also said that 12000 years ago, almost all the earth was covered with ice:
"Where I live in Connecticut was ice a mile above my house, all the way back to the North Pole, about 15 million kilometres, that's a big ice cube," he said. "But then it started to melt. We're talking about the floods of our living history. The water from the melting glaciers began to rush toward the world's oceans, causing floods all around the world."
A scientist also said that the Black Sea was once a fresh water with farms around all around it, but it was flooded by a rushing water from the Mediterranean sea enough to take down anything on its path. Ballard said:
"We went in there to look for the flood," he said. "Not just a slow moving, advancing rise of sea level, but a really big flood that then stayed. The land that went under stayed underneath."
They as well discovered an ancient shore boundary four hundred feet beneath the Dead sea. This made Ballard sure that a great disaster actually occurred in the Black sea seeing how about 151,000 square kilometres were buried onto the sea.
Another new thing that was recently discovered in 2008 was a guessed remain of the Noah's ark. It was found in the near Mt. Ararat Turkey
though it isn't totally accurate but the probability that the discovery was actually the remain of Noah's ark is 9.9/10.
They discovered seven mighty compartments of woods buried about 13,000 ft above sea level almost to the highest peak of Ararat. Some scientists also disapprove this point believing everyone has been fooled by the Myth of this great flood. Which meant no flood and no Noah's ark.
The DISCOVERIES are considered as pseudoscience and pseudoachaelogy.
Though proofs have been found, scientists still find it hard to establish the event as real.
